Space Academies 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Throughout the project lifetime 6 Space Academies will take place in various locations in Europe, networking new space tech entrepreneurs with potential partners in Finance, Business, Space Clusters and Science Parks, plunging Start-ups into a genuinely European Space ecosystem.
Following the application process, 10 start-ups will be granted funding to attend a Space Academy. To participate in the general event (not including one-to-one sessions or tailored coaching sessions) you also apply using the same process. WHAT IS ABOUT
SpaceUp is a project financed by the EU Framework programme
for Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020).
Throughout the project lifetime six Space Academies will take place in various locations in Europe, networking new space tech entrepreneurs with potential partners and customised business services will be provided to selected companies, helping them accelerate on the road to success!

STARTUPS
The life of a start-up begins with an idea and lots of enthusiasm. Within the European space sector start-ups have the possibility to find Support and mentoring during their early stages in business incubation centers (BIC), the European Space Agency (ESA).

OPPORTUNITY
The Space Academies will provide space-specific commercial and technical assistance and will also help start-ups to apply space technology to non-space industrial, scientific and commercial fields, and vice-versa.

The SpaceUp Experience

Space Academies

ONE PLACE FOR ALL YOUR ACTIVE LEARNING
Via 6 Space Academies, SpaceUp will offer expertise to entrepreneurs and find solutions to their needs through customized coaching services, one-to-one dedicated solutions modules, networking and matchmaking activities.
SpaceUp will coordinate direct matchmaking with business angels, crowdfunders, investors, managers and CEOs from corporates. The Space Academies are two-day events that will gather all relevant stakeholders around the Space Tech needs in 6 different “Space Intensive” locations in Europe.

METHODOLOGY

There will be an open call for applications for each Space Academy, and The SpaceUp Evaluation Committee will select 10 startups to receive full access to the SpaceUp services and travel expenses covered

DAY 1

An intense day where entrepreneurs can improve their skills and get insights from experts on various topics, with six parallel workshops as well as one-to-one coachings (see below) and roundtable meetings.

DAY 2

Organised following the format of a small congress with panels and keynote sessions with space actors and investors, involving regional industry for cross-clustering. Pitching from 10 start-up companies to this audience for high-level feedback.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Startups and entrepreneurs working in or related to the space industry.
DOES MY COMPANY HAVE TO BE EUROPEAN?
Yes, these activities will take place at a European level. If you are from outside of Europe but interested in participating or interacting in some way, kindly contact info@space-academy.eu to discuss other options.
IS IT ONLY FOR SPACE SECTOR COMPANIES & PROJECTs?
If seen of interest, spin-ins/spin-outs from non-space sectors are also welcome to apply to participate in the Space Academies.
EVEN IF I AM NOT ONE OF THE SELECTED COMPANIES, CAN  I STILL PARTICIPATE?
The selected companies are those that will receive full reimbursement and can participate in the one-to-one sessions, but other startups and entrepreneurs are welcome to participate in the main event and panel sessions, covering their own costs.
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN MORE THAN ONE SPACE ACADEMY?
The aim is to ensure that the widest possible audience gets to benefit from the knowledge and insights from the SpaceUp experts, and so even if applications are submitted to participate in more than one Space Academy, priority will be given to those who have not yet experienced one.
